Have any of you heard of or tried Joan Rivers Beauty Great Hair Day Fill In Powder - my mom found it in QVC. The reviews say it's easy to apply, good coverage. It's less costly than Toppik or DermMatch, but I'm more interested in your opinions on the product. My mom has kindly offered to buy it for me, but I told Her I wanted it to check here first. Please share your experiences, even if it's second hand. Thank you:>

I literally just tried it, and I am very impressed. I feel it does a good job covering my scalp, makes it look much less white! Honestly, my thinnest areas are at the side, not on top, so I can only tell you that I'm happy with what it does there. I cannot compare it to DermMatch or Toppik because I haven't tried them. This costs a little over $30 (including shipping), and it seems that a little will go a long way.

Hi Vicki--I haven't tried this product yet, but I did actually see it on QVC. What I've tried is a product by Bumble and Bumble--it's spray hair powder. I just googled any salons in my area that sold Bumble and bumble. It was designed for creating instant fullness, blending root color (especially good for grey root coverage), & adding "grip" after a fresh blowdry if you want hair in an updo, etc. I found that it takes the stark white color out of the scalp and fills in the thinning areas so they're not so obvious.

Thank you, that sounds like a great product. I'll have to look for that one too!

You know I saw the Joan Rivers' product on the QVC website and was thinking about ordering it. Is it water resistant? I need to go back and read more about it. How do you like it so far?
I just got a disk of the dermmatch in the mail today. I think the applicators are way too big. I'm going to have to set myself up with some smaller applicator thingys. I used it on my thin areas tonight when we went out and I was amazed at how much more normal my hair looked. I would catch a glance at myself in a window or mirrow and would start, thnking 'THAT is what my part used to look like damnit! I am TOTALLY *>>not<<* freakin' imagining this shit.
TOMORROW I'm sitting the old man down and am doing up his head. I'll do a before and after pic on him. May have to borrow a camera that can actually zoom in, as mine doesn't do that so well. He's game for it as long as I put a beer in his hand. Will keep you chicas posted on his dermmatch makeover :)

I like the Joan Rivers product. It comes with a large brush, but I'm more comfortable using a small sponge applicator. It's really good for my eyebrows too. Water resistant? Yes. There are nights I wash my face and still see some of it on my brows - I don't rub too hard there because they like to fall out way too easily. I also use it for gray roots, it doesn't come off on my pillow at night! Just FYI - not sure what color your hair is, but you've seen mine, and I use dark blonde product. What I like best is that I can't actually feel it on my hair :)

Vicki, I thought you have dark brown or black hair? Wow, the dark blonde must be really dark. I might try that after trying out the DM.

Hi - I do have very dark hair! I chose that color based on the reviews on the QVC website. The powder looks medium-brown, but it blends just right with my color.

I'm not familiar with that product but I do search the Internet quite a bit for other products to try. I read yesterday that Volluma is offering a free trial for just the price of shipping: http://VollumaFreeTrial.com
My research suggests it may be a good choice for some women. They've also got a new ebook about styling tips on their blog: http://volluma.com/blog/style-guide

Hi, thanks for the tip on the Joan Rivers powder, I currently use DermMatch but it goes a bit chalky, do you have the same problem or no?
Personally I don't rate the spray-on hair concealers, I've tried a couple as they're cheap and so I thought they might be worth it, but actually really wasn't impressed with the look afterwards. If they just use that and nothing else in their before and after photos the must have some really clever people applying it, mine looked nothing like them! :(

Hi, I don't thing the Joan Rivers one is chalky. I use it on my eyebrows too (I don't know if I already wrote that or not, sorry). If you order it from QVC, you have 30 days to return it if you don't like it - that's a big help!! Good luck.

I've never tried the Joan Rivers product, but I do use L'Oreal brand eye shadow in the same type of way (it's pretty cheap and easy to find). I use the brown from the Classic Khaki set. It is a tiny bit chalky on my hair but there is no way I'd leave the house with out it!
