Just wondering if anyone has had any success with using saw palmetto? I've read that it can take several months for it to work... I've been taking it since mid Feb., and I have noticed that my shedding in the shower has decreased but honestly i'm taking so many other herbs that it's hard to tell what is actually helping. I'd just love to hear of any other experiences with saw palmetto. Thanks!

Hi Ashah -
I took saw palmetto many moons ago, but I don't really ever think I stuck with it long enough to give an accurate assessment of the herb, but hey reduced shedding is reduced shedding, whether it is saw palmetto or any of the other things you are taking :D Are you making your own herb concoction?

Thanks to you both for the response! That's the hard part is that it takes so long to work (if its going to work). Pattiv, how much saw palmetto are you taking? I'm not sure that I'm taking enough, and I can't really find much dosage information on the internet. I'm taking 160mg geltab once in the morning, then I take a 120mg Beta Sitosterol at night. The beta sitosterol is supposedly the main ingredient in saw palmetto. My saw palmetto bottle actually says to take 2 per day so I'm thinking I may try that. Just curious how much you take. Thanks a bunch!

I used to take it before switching to Reservatrol & Curcumin, it did definitely slow the shedding after 3 months for me, I only don't take it now as I'm a little worried.
If it works it's blocking DHT right through your body, which is what Finasteride does, and women aren't meant to take Finasteride so logically... Also I was told by someone selling saw palmetto that whilst it was fine and side effect free I shouldn't take it while pregnant just in case. I'm sure a certain amount of ass-covering was going on, but it did make me wonder.
