Generally, what tends to hide thinning the best? I'm thinking about going super short (like twiggy) because I seem to think that having it shorter will allow it to grow in "stronger" because there will be less fussing, blow drying etc.. I'm scared if I do go that short though that it will make my hair look worse  and then I'll be stuck with it while it grows out.

What's your experience with hairstyles? What seems to work the best to add volume to thin hair?

I've attached a pic of my current chin-length 'do. I like this cut because I really don't have to blow dry it, and if I straighten it, I can do it on "low" after it air-dries. I get lots of volume from the layers in the front, and the back is stacked.

This works well for me, but your needs may be different. I think going shorter is generally a good idea for volume (you don't have to cut much off to make an effect, just a few inches, I've found), and so are layers.

Hope this helps!

That's a great do! My hair is a little longer right now just a touch past my chin, but done in layers. I agree with a couple of inches making a difference in terms of adding volume! I like the bob look a lot!

Before I got my topper and just before my hair got super thin I cut it short like twiggy too. I really like it and I keep it short now even with the topper. This photo is pre topper and pre massive balding shed. I have Toppik on in this photo so it looks pretty good even though it was really thin.

If it had stayed like this I could have cope with it, but as I have said I had a massive shed that caused balding and thinning beyond repair.

You will love your short hair. Go for it,.

Your hair looks lovely! I really like the colour and the cut gives it tons of volume. I agree I have to just go for the short do. I know in the long run I'll be happier because I won't "feel" it as much. I style it so precisely that every time the wind blows it makes me want to run and find a mirror

Thanks for sharing :>

I totally know what you mean, there. Cutting mine short helped a lot, and I think a more pixie-esque cut would help even more. Even if the wind blows, there's no real length to mess up. :)

And Kawawa, I know I've probably said it before, but your skin is simply lovely. I'm in my 20s and mine isn't that good.

Thanks, I try to take care of myself. Neutrogena products are the best for skin! Somthing has to be good, right?

I went to have my topper re-bonded yesterday and my bio hair is so thin on top I looked like Bozo the Clown! The tech was late, so I got to sit there with my wig off for about 45 minutes. That was a good feeling.

I agree with finale. If I just take a little bit of length of and have my stylist work a few undetectable layers in, it's amazing how my hair perks up.
