I have had hair loss for about 30 years now. I would love to be a support to anyone who will listen. Mine started when my 2 children were young and I was about 30 years old. I just found this sight by accident. I always wanted to be able to help someone with this condition but I didn't know you had a website. I had to go to back work about 20 years ago because my husband became disabled. I never thought I would be able to do that with this condition; but you can do anything you set your mind to and, with help and support, I did what I had to do.
I have worked most of my life outside the home with this condition; but I have gone through what all of you have spoken about in your stories.
I cried, went to therapy, went on anti-depressants, went to doctors and specialists everywhere. Nothing worked. I wore hair pieces (that's what they called them back then). It cost a lot of money. I am sure it costs a lot of money now. But they didn't have all the drugs they have now on the market. I used to take vitamins and get shots in my head.
It used to really hurt getting those shots. Then I went to a hair-loss clinic and the doctor was very straight with me. I then realized that I can get through this problem with help. I got in contact with some good people who made hair pieces and I worked with my beautician. At that time no one, I mean no one ever heard of a women with hair loss.
It was so strange. But I did what all of you do. You try anything.
I also had friends who were very supportive and my husband who stood by me through it all. This website is wonderful. I wish I had this back then. But I didn't have a home computer back then. No one did.
Good luck to all of you. Believe me, you will get through this.
I have learned so much about myself and how strong I am through this whole experience. It has helped me get through all the other weird things that happens to you while you are trying to live this crazy thing called life.
