Hey All,

I just happened to come across this site while in my desperate attempt to search and search for an answer to my hair loss problem since 15 years, I typed "Can I shave my head to make my hair grow better" :)

Yes I am that Desperate.Reading some of the posts here made me feel for the very first time in my life that am probably not alone in this struggle. However my case is just so so weird.I donot have Alopecia, as in not the kind where I have lost patches of hair and there are no bald spots on my head. But my hair has been CONTINOUSLY and Excessively falling and falling full length of the hair and not just breaking, since 15 years.Which is since I was 14..I have tried anything I could get my hands on under the Sun, Alopathic medicine, herbal, Ayurvedic, Oils, evrything literally but nothing has worked. My hair has now thinned so much that I can see my scalp however it's not that thin that I have to wear a wig.And I dont even want to wear a wig.I got married a year back only and I so want to style and colour and do so much with my hair but it's just lifeless.I have gone to a 100 doctors and had every sort of tests done on me.I donot have any thyroid disorder, or SLE, or any Vitamin or Mineral deficiency because since Childhood I have been taking vitamin supplements on and off.But my hairfalll does not stop. Now it's so weak that even if my hair grows till my shoulder, I get splits end on literally every single hair. Moreover my hair used to be straight and shiny now its, wavy frizzy and lifelessly dull.

Plz plz plz if anyone knows what my condition is plz ell me.I now I might have some genetic link to it since my Mother's hair has also fallen like this ever since my sister (her 2nd child) was born.I am the first child. But her hair has atleast maintained it's silkiness and shine. Also my scalp and sin is sooooo Oily that 8 hrs after my wash my hair is oily so much that people ask me if I ahve oiled it.I have lived with this pain and suffering for sooo many years, It has taken away every happiness that has come my way. Also along with this problem the other weird thing is that I ahve excess hair all over my body and face, which also grows so so fast after each waxing that I have to wax my face every 2 days.None of the girls in both sides of my family are hairy except me.Not even my Mom.And it's not hirsutism cuz I donOT have PCO and the hair on my body isn't thick like men's hair it's just normal but all over.I am sick of the constant hiding my face, constant question from every one and constant waxing, threading which also gives me pimples.

Plz help if anybody has a solution OR knows the cause of my Problem :(

Oh and I have only had 5 months of birth control pill many many years ago maybe when I was 16-17 not for Birth control but for painful periods (Dont knw why my doc had to prescribe those for me) Cuz I never really had a disturbance in my menstrual cycle however my cycle has always /mostly been 31-32-33 days and never the perfect 28 day cycle. All my Hormones are perfect.I might have testosteron on the higher end of normal zone and my estrogen is in the lower end of normal zone but AL the doctors I ahve ever been to have said it PerFECT and no need to worry:( Also I have tried using DIANE -35 twice but it makes me so so so sick that the day I start the pills I have low blood pressure and nausea and I just cant even get out of bed.SO much so that I have had to quit only after 4 days at both the times I took Diane-35.I have also used Minoxidil and Rogaine but to no effect and I donto want to continue using them for ever all my life.

I have tried anything I could get my hands on under the Sun, Alopathic medicine, herbal, Ayurvedic, Oils, evrything literally but nothing has worked.

None of those things work. They are nothing more than over priced bottles of empty promises.

You need to work with a doctor to find out what is causing your hair loss. From there the doctor will try to figure out how to resolve the cause. Once the cause is resolved, your hair should grow back.

I feel for you. I am 51 and i had my first big shed at 13. In school one of my teachers told me my hair was thinner than his. my mother also had hair loss but no one else in family. I would start with an endocrinologist and dont let them say nothing is wrong. Find one near you. I have been to the big expensive ones in NY city, they are not worth it.

TRACY & CATHY...

Thank u both so so much for the support. My hope is the one day God will listen to me and it's a test which I have to brave thru..I am surely going to look up an Endocrinologist...praying to get someone who cares and understands.U know what the funny thing is That my Husband is an Internist himself and I am a doctor in-the-making...so yea U can imagine how much research hours I must have put into this problem of mine :)

I would want to ask anyone who reads this and anyone in this forum who has a similar condition as mine and they have got the treatment or atleast some kind of relief.I would want to know which doctor and what treatment they took and it's effects .

Fingers crossed :)

Sabah,

Have you been checked for seborrheic dermatitis? I do know that it can cause excess oil on the scalp. It also may be related to a yeast called mellitis (sp) which can cause hair loss. Just thought I'd mention it to see if it's worth looking into for you.

Hey Jest ,Thank u so much for mentioning this.Even though I have been to multiple Dermatologists and yes my scalp and skin is excessively oily but I have as such not been diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis since a very long time now.If I keep washing(shampooing ) my hair evry day (I do it alternate days though) then I get no dandruff. But I am trying to find a good Dermatologist in south-eats michigan and am definitely going to have this and the yeast checked. If anyone knows of a good Derma in south-east MI plz let me know

Sabah,

I have a dermatologist in the Grand Rapids area not far from the Rivertown crossings mall. He was one who prescribed aldactone for me. Let me know if you are near there.
