Hello everyone, although I have dealt with hair loss for many years, this is the first time I decided to join a group to be with other people trying to deal with this terrible situation, because only the ones who have experienced this nightare would understand.
My first hair loss event happened at age 32 due to hormone changes after stopping taking birth control pills, but grew back eventually. The second major episode happened around age 45 which was found to be due to iron loss because of too much menstrual bleeding for which I ended up having an hysterectomy. I again got my hair back. I was prescribed rogaine during that time and actually have been using it on and off since then. After that I had few other hair loss episodes and my hair got thinner with each episode, but grew back. my dermatologist said that it is genetic. In 2005, I had another major hair loss episode, this time with a lot of scalp irritation. I think it was due to an allergic reaction to the hair coloring product that my hair stylist had used. My dermatologist prescribed a foam called Luxiq and I don't know if it helped or not but eventually my hair started to grow back and I had no hair problems until couple of weeks ago. First it was more shedding after washing my hair, which I thought maybe seasonal, but it has been really shedding in massive amounts during this past week and I really can't afford to lose that much everyday. I am passed menapause, so I don't think it is hormonal. I just had a physical a month ago, everything was normal. I was not stressed until the hair problem! I will be making an appointment to see my regular doctor for hormone tests or whatever.. Since I lived through many episodes of hair loss in the past, I still think this may be temporary but who knows, all I know is I am suddenly losing massive amount of hair thta I can not afford to lose. Thank you for any suggestions/comments.

Hi fotomoto, I'm new here too. I just wanted to wish you well and say that hairloss can be devastating, but to keep your spirit up. Atleast you know that you are otherwise healthy and can really focus on your cause for hairloss. Do you know what your testosterone levels are?

Thank you. I just made an appointment for monday to get my hormone levels checked. Hopefully they will find a reason for the sudden hair loss for this time around. The real problem starts when they can't find the cause. Thanks again and all my best wishes to you.

Wow this could be my story. Loss, growth, loss, growth and then balding spots in less than three months.

I am 44 and wear a bonded topper now. It is just so frustrating, isn't it?

You can click on my name and look at my photos if you like. They are sort of interesting.

It looks great!! Is it comfortable because I can't even stand wearing hats.. I'm not at total coverage stage yet but I'll be going on an overseas trip soon so I am ordering Dermmatch just in case, because i might need it at the rate I'm losing my hair. I also travel a lot and do lots of outdoor activities like hiking therefore whatever I use has to be kinda practical. Where do they sell toppers? I live in Los Angeles area. By the way I am 61 years young and have been dealing with hair loss for 30 years now. Again I think your topper looks very natural and great. All my best wishes to you.

My topper is very comfortable. I hate hats and I hate clips even more. They bother me, so bonding was the answer for me. I just wash and wear it, like my natural hair. I have it re-bonded once a month. I workout 4 times a week and travel often. I will send you a private message with a few places that I have heard of. I use a custom shop in Houston and it cost about $2800 a year for all the cuts, color, bonding and two systems a year. For me it was worth $8.00 a day. I look 10 years younger with hair, so I know what you mean when you talk about the rate that you are losing it. It is frustrating. Look for a Private message from me.

This is a list that was shared with me at the salon that I use. They all offer similar services. I can't vouche for any of them, as I don't have any affilation with any of them, but it is a place to start. Take Care. S
