Mirena Coil Hair Loss

I am new to this forum and wondered if anyone else had lost hair because of the Mirena Coil?

yes, i also think my hair loss problems were initiated by the Mirena. i lost a significant amount of blood while I had Mirena for 11 months (which caused my iron to drop very low) and it may have also raised my testosterone levels. I had it removed in 10/08 and other than the hair loss issue, have felt MUCH better. it's amazing how many awful symptoms that this thing was causing and it took my hair falling out to make me wake up and figure out why my whole body was so out of whack.

I had various blood tests and saw a Dermatologist about my hair loss when I had the Mirena. My testosterone was normal and I hadn't got low iron levels so I then knew it was the Mirena after finding lots of women of all ages on the net all losing hair because of this coil.

It has been out a month now and my hair is still falling out, I think I have lost about 50% of my hairs thickness and my hairline is receding.

Have you had any regrowth since you had the coil removed?

i cant say ive had a whole lot of regrowth yet. i was treating with a naturopath, who i now believe did not realy know how to treat me and used me as a bit of a guinea pig. her treatments did not work and created other issues (temporary) with my thyroid. I also tried spiro, which was a disaster for me. i shaved my head on June 1st and am now trying to let my body balance itself out, hopefully my hair will eventually follow. Honestly, right now i am not sure if my hair is still shedding or not.

I have noticed that I am now growing a wispy fringe so I am hopeful that I will eventually grow all my hair back.

This experience has shown me how devastating it can be lose your hair and I never again will take my hair for granted.

I will let you know if my hair growth continues.
