hair breakage/regrowth?

Ok so it is typical for me (or so far anyway) to shed a ton of hair for a few months and then grow it back for a few (only to have the new growth quit on me and fall out too). My question is this...firs off, how do I tell if what I am seeing this time is breakage or new growth, and second, this time my scalp is quite itchy which is a first for me, does anyone else experience this? I know some ppl posted that they itch when it falls out, this has never happenned to me either and my shed (fingers crossed) seems to be slowing down. I am new to this board and have been posting like crazy...sorry, I don't want to be a pain, but I am so excited at the info you all seem to have! It's been two years and this is the first place that has had any answers! thanks in advance!:)

My scalp is pretty itchy as well; it could be because new hair is growing in or a product of whatever is causing the hairloss. I really don't know....

hey KellyJean, I found this article during a search, it is a little vague, but it helped a little. I picked up random sections of hair (I was previously only looking at the top of my scalp and bangs) and did see some little guys, hopefully this time they stick around. Im not nuts, the article said to look in other areas I swear! My hair stylist hs said before that she can tell the difference somehow so I am going to make an appointment. I'll let ya know what she says!

Hmm. I have noticed some short hairs when I part it down the middle (I normally part to the left). I guess that's new growth?
