I've been suffering with burning scalp, crawling, tingling hair loss for 7mos!!! I was in such a state of panic by what was going on, I didn't know what to do. The majority(all)people I had told had said it was just nerves and anxiety..I knew it was more. I've always been healthy, fit, confident person and slowly was loosing all confidence.. At 31 years of age I was loosing my hair!!! To make a long story short I had made an appointment with my primary care physician, had thyroid screening:all was normal...I returned to the office a month later with still problem(getting worse) and I was prescribed antidepressants and sleeping pills!!!! I took for 2 weeks and stopped..I couldn't stand the fog it put me in. Plus, the burning scalp and hairloss continued. Drs prescribe antidepressants for everything!!!IT"S RIDICULOUS!!!! About 2mos later I had went to the Dermitologist and he looked at me like I was crazy...He ordered me to have a full metabolic screening completed. I returned to his office 2wks later and he said everything was"fine".. I was beside myself..all I wanted was an answer. 3mos passed and my hairloss was worsening, the burning was spreading and the texture of my hair was changing...I was hysterical every night/day..so terrified of what was going on. I then made an appointment at a renound Dr/nutrition specialist in the area..before I went to my appointment I returned to dermatologist office requesting copy of all blood work.. When I went to my apt my Dr picked up immediately the significance between LOW FERRITON and HAIRLOSS.. My ferrtiton was at 30 and if u research ..for health levels you should be at least at 70-90...even if the range says its normal...I think it starts at 13..RIDICULOUS!! He prescribed for me "Blood Builders" which is basically IRON, VIT C and other mineral, VIT A, and ZINC PICOLINATE.... As God as my witness within 5days my scalp no longer burns, crawls, tingles!!! It was a miracle for me. The texture has improved almost back to normal and new hair stubbles are coming in. I"m beyond happy and thankful.. I hope my message helps someone!!!!

Girlllll.
Don't get me all excited like this (my ferritin is at a lovely 10.)

How did your hair texture change, exactly?

This is a lot of the same stuff that is in Nu hair and viviscal. I am thinking of trying it just to see what happens.

Is "blood builders" the name of a suppliment? Or did you take one of each individual pill that you talk about?

I've had horrendous scalp pain for almost 4 years, horrible texture change and diffuse loss all over my body. When I took black strap molasses my aweful nails improved. So somehow iron plays a role for me.

Please can you tell more aobut these blood builders in more detail? I get very excited when I see a post like this but many are not very detailed therefore it's hard to know what to buy or try without more info. please post back I am very interested to hear more such as the name of the suppliment or suppliments, strength of pill you take per day, how many etc. HELP I have been in excrutiating pain for too long.

Well the story of my life. Someone with scalp pain comes on, is cured and leaves a vauge message and dissapears.

So much for blood builders

Beth me too. What bothers me about these posts is they are vauge and I wonder how many ran out and got the suppliment blood builder? I saw several online called blood builder but I don't know if she is referring to blood builder individual supps only? I can attest to Iron helping fingernails and at times shed. Zinc is good at only 50mg you don't want to go higher then that as it can cause HL (zinc comes in about 4 forms), Vitamin C triggers a mean shed in me and I don't take vitamin A. I don't know the "other herbs" she is talking so unfortunatly the post is not going to help alot of women unless she can come back on and clarify

If anyone is interested you can try to send her a private message. It all depends on whether she gets notifications that a there were replies to her post.
Give it a try. :D

This is what I found about "blood builders" it has all the ingredients that she was talking about... im thinking about trying it or trying the Andrew Lessman's Hair and Nails vitamin from HSN. I have read only great things about it.

Okay well I'm very new to this site and to hair loss. Although I am waiting to hear back from my biopsy I just had, I am taking Iron supplements and I've already noticed a difference even though its been like 3 weeks! my hair part is not as wide. It's not a complete transformation but I can see a small difference.

I would really like to avoid any major medication if I can, so I'm going to keep taking these Iron pills and see where it takes me!

I can give information about what I'm taking if anyone is interested, hope this helps!

nicky, I would sure love to know exactly what your taking and how much (ie: how often a day and how many mg/mcg)!! Any glimmer of hope is well needed here! :D

Im like you, I would like to stay away from any serious meds and stick with something natural if at all possible!

Thanks!:>

I'm not Nicky but I can vouch for iron via black strap molasses delivery for helping in some way. I have lumpy fingernails and the black strap fixes that every time. If I go off it within weeks the lumps are back. I don't know if it's the magnesium, potassium or iron in it that helps but something clearly does. also my shed seems to go down when I get on it. So clearly Iron does play a role in female hair loss. I dont feel it's the total problem but part of the picture. I think if your a woman who is menstruating a good dose of black strap would not hurt at all. it's cheap and it is readily absorbed VS pill form.

I sure wish the original poster would come back and let us know how she is.

Wow!! I wonder if this is what I need. Worth a try to check. I will request my blood work that was done and check! I have started taking a chewable vitamin, extra Vit.D and 5000mg Biotin daily, we will see. I never was high in my iron due to side effects with too much.

Hey guys! I wore my hair without a headband or hat today! I was nervous but i did it!!! It was still thin on top a bit but still had this great volume that i MISS!!! felt so good although I was still somewhat self conscious about it... okay so i started taking this stuff called Euro-Fer (Iron Sup) they are only 100 mg and then i just recently switched a few days ago to another brand called Palafer Iron Therapy because they have 300mg per capsule. I wanted to up my dosage since i was noticing a difference! I just take one pill once a day with food. I take it in the morning with my breakfast! Im going to look into this Biotin and maybe start taking that too?

Ill let you guys know what my results are from my biopsy when I find out... It feels like I've been waiting forever! Ah

Nicky

I've heard about molasses being a good source of iron. I take slow FE and find that it does not affect my stomach at all. Nicky, I haven't heard of the particular ones you've taken, but I will look them up. I'm really glad they're helping you!

Does molasses really help? I love it and I have a hard time with Iron? Is the slow better?

Hey S22....I am taking some of Andrew Lessman's vitamins and I really like them. I take the Hair, Skin and Nail, CQ 10 and the L-Lysine. I read on another board that if you are using Rogaine or another form of AGA treatment (Antiandrogen) that L-Lysine magnifies the treatment. I decided it was worth a sort. I feel very comfortable that all the vitamins I take are from Andrew Lessman...I feel that they jsut go together if you know what I mean.

I also have been using Nu Hair since about April. Not sure if it has helped but I really don't think it's hurt....

Can someone summarize all the tests one should ask doctors for and which docs to ask them for. I get the total run around from my primary. I wish there was one place where you could go and everything done! Hmmmm, new biz perhaps......
