Hello,

I'm new at this and am experiencing a lot of things I don't understand and am having a hard time handling.

This past summer I experienced two traumatic events (don't want to talk about it but just so you know). I survived, but now, end of August, all my hair is falling out. This has never happened before and the scale of it is just causing me to reel.

Some background info: vegan, no meds, no bc, stressful job (don't we all)

You probably have gotten this question a billion times and I apologize, but what on earth should I do? I've been reading and it sounds like "Telogen Effluvium" -- has anyone ever experienced this? Does it grow back? Is there anything I can do but shake my fist at the sky??

Thank you for your help & just for having this forum --

Reb

I think the first thing would be to check your blood work and see if it is normal. I wish I could tell you more but I think that is the first place to start. It is so aggravating dealing with this issue. I hope that in the near future they can have success dealing with problem. I have had 3 biops and have seen several Dr.'s and I know for me they always check blood for a panel..Iron, Thyroid, B12, and probably your hormones... The rest is just up to the individual. I have been dealing with it way to long(6 yrs) so I AM NOT very happy at this point..My iron level is way to low and is taking forever to come up to what they say is normal.. Hope this can help..and they always say start taking supplements that are good for hair... multi-vitamin, Biotin, and some kind of fish oil may also help.. Good Luck!! Lisah :)

Sometime trauma can cause our hair to fall out. TE is a normal response to extreme stress. Generally, your hair can handle this type of thinning and it is temporary. If you are still seeing new hair then you may just get a handle on it.

Do some bloodwork and make sure that all your levels are normal and then try to reduce your stress with Yoga or Pilates.

Hope this helps. Take care and ((((((((((((((big hug)))))))))))))))))))):>
