2 years ago I got my Thyroid checked and the test came back normal.

My TSH number was 0.91, and the normal range they listed was 0.50 - 5.20.

My question is, is 0.91 really okay? Does anyone know what a healthy Thyroid number is?

There are other thyroid tests you can get done to have a complete "thyroid panel" done including Free T4, Free T3, Total T4, and Total T3, T3 uptake, and a few more. These will paint a better picture. But as far as your TSH, it is still the gold standard test for a doctor to see what is going on with your thyroid, and your result is as close to perfect as you can get. Several endocrinologists feel the general rule of thumb is to be as close to "1" as possible for the TSH.. Too low would mean you are hyperthyroid, too high would be hypothyroid. The referance range is .3 to 3.0 for TSH (yet most labs use an outdated range even though they changed the reference range in 2003). Your TSH sounds perfect to me.

I hope this helps :)

I should mention that I am hypothyorid and I am currently taking medication for it.. and my doctors always aim to have my TSH as close to 1 a possible. People who are not hypothyroid do not necessarily need to aim for a TSH of 1. I hope that made sense!
