Hi all! Just thought i'd quickly share my experience over the past 6 months. Ive been experiencing hair loss/thinning for the past 5-6 years and basically adjusted to the fact that I would now have thin/fine hair instead of the thick hair I had since I was a kid. Ive been using the Hairmax laser comb + minoxidil as treatment for the past few years, which managed to keep it under control and occasionally provide some new hair growth. Anyway, about six months ago, I decided that after seeing no real significant hair growth over the years I would stop all my chemical treatments and commit to a more natural approach. I started using Aveda Scalp Benefits shampoo (which really controlled my oily scalp problem), took a good hair, skin and nail supplement (with biotin, silica, zinc, iron and B vitamins), upped my Omega-3 intake (naturally - lots of raw salmon and walnuts!!), limited sugar/processed carb intake and - above all else - cut the stress and envisaged myself with a thick head of hair (instead of always looking straight at my emerging scalp and growing part-line every time i looked into a mirror!!). Now, i am noticing some pretty amazing hair growth. I don't know if it's just a natural cycle, but being disciplined with diet and supplements, as well as mentally 'medicating' myself, has made an enormous difference - physically and mentally. I don't know if anyone else has had this experience, but I hope it helps! Thanks. Jx
What fantastic news I am really pleased for you. That sounds like a positive handle on things. Are you still using the Hairmax comb? I hope the hair growth continues, your post in certainly proof that it is possible to turn matters round concerning your hair and health.

I've tried a few different medicines like Metformin and Sprio. I have seen some improvement, but not as much as I'd like. I have thought the natural approach makes sense, since I think part of the cause of PCOs is from Insulin resistance, from what I've read, anyway. If I ever can give up sugar, eat healthy things, and stick to it, and loose weight, I beleive my body would get balanced. My doctor won't tell me much to help me. Everytime I try to talk to him, he points at his own bald head. Doesn't he realize how bad that makes me feel? I am not a man!

I am all for trying a naturopathic approach to hair loss. I have been shedding for 3 years now. It has gotten a smidge better but the sheds are still not normal and I can see more scalp at crown and hairline and also see more grey. My doctor gave me a genetic test which confirms high androgen sensitivity, so my guess is that my hairloss was triggered by using high androgenic bcp loestrin. I havent used it for 2+years so Im a bit confused why the hair keeps shedding. He recommends finasteride but I keep reading its not for women in child bearing years. Im early 30s who would like to have kids at some point. I am terrified to take i, terrified to continue doing nothing. DId any of you who have hairloss have androgenic alopecia or hereditary hair loss? Please share what works Im desperate!
