Hi Gale just curious if you are still on this board. I just ordered finasteride online and wondered what dosage worked for you? I think I'm going to take .5mg a day hoping that will help me.

Hi NoraBe,

I believe Dr. Redmond prescribes 2.5mg finasteride along with his other protocol of BCP and spiro. I am interested to find out if this works as well. I've searched around the internet and it seems to be an effective treatment with good response in regrowth for men. From everything I've read, my best guess is it works equally well for women however the biggest fear is if women of childbearing age take it and become pregnant which is probably why it's not promoted for FPB. If you do a search on this site you can find other post about it too.

Please let us know your results when you do start with this treatment. I have read that you have to take it for life or the hair you've gain will fall again but I think that is the same with BCP and spiro too.

hello, i have not been on this site for a while but i am glad to answer your question. i take 1mg a day. i have been on it for about a year and there are improvments. but i must say as a worring that when u first begin to take it there is an increase in shedding. Actually a huge increase in shedding. My hair reaced a new point of baldness about one to two months into propecia. But soon after a new batch of hair begin to grow. i have a lot of baby hair now, and as those grow out i have seen a new batch of baby hair emerging. so the best of luck to you, just do not become preggers on it. :)

from what i remember my shedding stopped around the 4 month point, but im not totally sure. And the shedding i am speaking of is the crazy shedding that took place due to the propecia. as far as my normal shedding i think it is reduce a lot after the fourth month, but for the last month i have been shedding more, and i believe that is due to the season. I was told that propecia takes about 6 months to 1 year to see the full beniefts. And yes when u stop taking it your hair will begin to fall out again. :(
