I just stumbled upon this website and THANK GOD because I am starting to panic! My hair loss started out very gradual, but is getting out of control. I can now see my scalp (on the top like a very wide part), and my pony is literally half the size it used to be! Part of my helpless feeling is that I understand this is hereditary and my Mom is currently in a wig! I'm am scared and equally ashamed because I am healthy...this has me so screwed up I can't think straight!

See a doctor soon! But i suggest you be very careful with the prescriptions he/she might give. Sorry I can't help and totally understand how you feel because i'm pretty much in the same situation...but try not to worry too much ok!
I just shaved everything off out of frustration =p

Hang in there. I am new to this too and freaked when I first saw this website info too......but information is power. I am working hard to stay true to myself by focusing on what makes sense to me and when I see a doc, make sure that he or she truly knows what they are talking about. I left one office crying and won't do that again!

Welcome to the forum! I have been shedding since 2006, my poytail is a joke I leave hair all over the place, but I have had some tests done last Monday (b12, iron) and I know in my heart it's iron-related.
stay positive.
one thing I have learned is when you NEED information, it will start popping up all over.
