It's a topical anti-androgenic used in Germany by both men and women
Active ingredient is 17-A Estradiol--or "E-1" a small amount, like 0.025%
It's not a growth stimulator, like Minox--so it should not trigger a shed ( which if my shed upped anymore--I will need a wig)
Any info?
Sorry, Fleur, I haven't heard of it. But my hormonal health doctor prescribed progesterone cream for me to put on my scalp, so I guess that is an anti-androgenic. I haven't used it enough to determine if it helps. I'll be more dilligent and get back to you if it does help.
Good luck to you!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!
How does your Hormonal doctor have you apply the Progesterone creme?
Is it a compounded creme that you just rub into the thinning areas? What if you are a diffuse thinner?
Do you see any additional shedding with this?
I am curious, since I know that there are some doctors who prescripe Minox with a low level of "P" added to the formulation.............
I am so sorry, Fleur, to make you wait for a reply. I have been so stressed, but don't tell my doctors that--they'll use that as an excuse for my hair falling out!
The progesterone creme is a compounded creme. My hormonal doctor has me applying it to my scalp with a q-tip--not an exact measure, for sure. I am a diffuse thinner, too, but the thinness is most noticable in the front top by my bangs, so that is the area I've been concentrating on.
I have been more dilligent with using the creme since we last talked. It seems when I use it, it temporarily thickens up the shaft, so the hair looks thicker. The fall-out seems to subside when I use it more often, too. I haven't noticed additional shedding, but maybe that is because I'm still not using it every night.
I understand the anti-androgen idea. I tried spironolactone last year, which is supposed to suppress testosterone. After the first few months of taking it, I saw new hair coming in. Then a couple months after that, my major shedding began and I felt tired and depressed. My hormonal doctor said I probably suppressed my testosterone enough to screw up my adrenals and thyroid. Since I got off that medicine, I'm feeling better and my hair is falling out less.
But I can't ignore that initial hair regrowth. I imagine there is a balance that I can achieve by using the progesterone creme topically so that it won't cause the major system upheaval that I experienced.
Anyway, that's more of my story than you needed. Sorry!
I haven't heard about Minox. What does the P stand for? Viviscal also may have an initial shed--something I can't afford either!
Hope you are well...otherwise!
