So I have been on Spiro for a few months now and im positive that it has slowed the growth of my hair. now im italian and my hair grows super fast, when i shave my legs, its only smooth for 6-8hrs. but now, i it lasts all day and part way through the next.

anyone else experience this???

Not that it's necessarily helpful to you, but I haven't had to shave since before Halloween  I also have serious hair loss though, which it doesn't sound like you do. P.S. I'm also Italian and used to have dark hair on my arms and legs. Sadly, I used to be made fun of because of it.

Have you noticed any other hair thinning or more loss than normal?

I dont have significant hair loss, but its been falling out consitantly since for the last year. My doc put me on spiro a couple of months ago. and i wasnt sure if that was a side effect of the drug or if my hair situation is about to just get worse.

i guess if im trying to find something good about my hair loss, this is kinda good. its nice not having to shave as often! ha. of course i rather have the hair on my head back. :(

Aww, of course you would. It is very sad experiencing hair loss and not being able to just fix the problem or have any sure way of knowing it's going to get better. My husband has joked that the reason he's growing his hair out is so that he can give it to me. I told him I didn't know if I wanted boy hair :p.

It will be hard to tell what's causing the slowed growth. I have heard that it may take 3-4 months for spiro to get into your system and really start doing what it is supposed to do. Have you reached this mark yet? The best thing I can recommend for you to do is to document everything. Keep notes on your medications, when you start, stop, and change dosages; keep notes on changes on with your hair loss and any other signs and symptoms you may have regardless if you think it's not related to the loss. Seeing the big picture after all your notes are taken could help you or your doctor to see a pattern or unexpected connection with your symptoms.

Well, hopefully the spiro will work for you. As well as keeping notes of any changes, I'd also highly recommend taking pictures of your scalp. Take close-up pictures of where you are experiencing some loss, as well as over-all pictures of top, sides, and back of your head. That will give you some helpful guidelines and reference points. I'd recommend doing this every 2 weeks or so. Sometimes with slow loss you may not really see the changes until it's significant. I'll be crossing my fingers for you as well! And let me know if you start to see any changes!

you know i have taken pictures of my scalp, but everytime i look at the pictures i get sick to my stomach and delete the pictures. and i always have the thought that someone would find the pic who didnt know about my hairloss and i would just be so embarassed. silly i know. i think it just makes everything so much more real. i have been dealing this for going on a year now, but seeing the pics just scare the crap out of me! i do need to start doing it to help keep track. hopefully i will get the nerve here soon!
