I want to welcome all the new ladies To The Women's Hair Loss Project, my story is quite lengthy, you can read it here:

I think the only think I felt that was worse than hair loss, was having hair loss and feeling like I was the only 21 year old this was happening to. I mean what 21 year old looses their hair? Me. Long story short, it was the taking of a birth control pill called Loestrin FE that ended up kicking in my apparent predisposition for female pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). My hair just would not stop falling out. I ran from doctor to doctor only to find myself in the same exact place I started, I as exhausted, medicated out, and alone. The best thing I ever did for my hair loss was to starting writing about it. I started The Women's Hair Loss Project in 2007, and the more I wrote, the more women began to write back and share their own stories. And for the first time ever, I felt connected to another who truly understood. That has been the most healing thing for my hair loss. Yes I still take some medications, and my hair does continue to thin, but my mind is stronger, I feel better about myself and not AS much of a prisoner to my hair loss. Although I have not really freed myself from it... not yet. One day.

I know what you ladies are going through, I've lived it, I continue to live with it and I just want you to know I'm here for you. You can always contact me through the forum or the network. Reach out to others, don't suffer in silence.

I am also of long time hl sister who has come full circle. I now wear a bonded topper I know that not every woman will need a wig and many woman are in the early stages of this seemingly neverending cycle of hl and even remission in some cases, but it does always seem to be part of our lives once it starts.

Thanks for starting this forum,
