Finally got in to see Dr. Heather Wickless, she is located in Chicago and specializes in Female Hair Loss, she is part of Northwestern University and is amazing.

I don't have any hair results to post yet but the initial consultation was a great experience. She was interested in my story and took her time. She put everything in the computer and printed it out for me before I left.

She is up on everything and aggressive to get things rolling.. don't know about you but with hair loss, I want something that is aggressive except my hair loss:cool:

I will update with results of my treatment, if it is working and what my next appointment is like. So far very pleased with Dr. Wickless.

I will post a more detailed thread when I can get a hold of the rest of my info..

Hi Rum -

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr. Heather Wickless, I punched her name into google and found her page on vitals.com, where it seems she got some very nice reviews. They said:

Dr. Wickless is the most competent and thorough physician imaginable. Her supreme intellectual achievement is accompanied by a very caring and thoughtful manner. She is a credit to humanity. In every respect she is at the epitome of the medical professionals I have ever met.

Dr. Wickless is one of the very best doctors I have ever seen. She is knowledgeable, staying informed about the latest research and guidelines. She also has an incredible bedside manner and caring nature. Dr. Wickless actually called me a couple of days after an appointment to give me information from a very recent study that might impact my care. I didnt think doctors did that kind of thing anymore, especially in a big city. Dr. Wickless is a great listener; she doesnt interrupt and she understands patient concerns quickly and accurately. She also has a way of making you feel like she has all the time in the world to see you, meaning she really focuses on your concerns and doesnt seem rushed like so many other doctors do. And yet she has never been running late to see me, even toward the end of the day. Dr. Wickless has answered all my questions (and I ask a lot of them). She is able to see patients concerns from their perspective while also imparting her medical expertise. And I get the impression that she tailors her communication style to the needs of each individual patient. Her medical trainees have also been very knowledgeable and caring; Im glad to know they are receiving her good example. More doctors should be like Dr. Wickless.

Here is her page on there: http://www.vitals.com/doctor/profile/1992853154

I am so very happy that you found a doctor you are comfortable with and who cares. I look forward to hearing your updates.

Hey Rum - I was curious if you ever got back the results of your HairDx Test?

I have an appointment in the beginning of June with Dr Wickless. The test takes forever to come back..

As far as Kelly's question...

Mens's Rogaine(which I can't bring myself to start) 5%
and lots of vitamins...
SlowFE 2x per day( my ferratin levels were low)
Vitamin C (To help with the iron absorption)
Biotin
Fish Oil
General Multivitamin
Vitamin D
Vitamin B12

I would not recommend changing or adding these things to your diet or hair until you have talked to a Doctor.

Good Luck:cool:

Interesting to see Dr Wickless mentioned here, my derm was honest and said he doesn't know what to do for me and he said Dr Wickless came highly recommended to him.

I am seeing her in August, it takes several weeks to get an appointment with her.

Finally got my Hair DX results back Negative for genetic pattern hair loss. Also got in to see an Endocrinologist.. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The picture is starting to shape up that it is adrenal fatigue. So there is hope....

Who did you see for an endocrinologist? I saw Dr. Wickless last week and my blood test came back fine - have to wait another 5 weeks for the Hair Dx test. Just wondering what made you head for an endocrinologist - what are they checking on?

Thanks.

I called her office today and learned she moved to Colorado about a year ago. :(
If anyone has any other recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

I too am facing some unexpected hair loss and live in the Chicago area.
I wanted to make an appointment with Dr. Wickless, but found out that she had moved to Colorado.
I have an appointment with Dr. Colavincenzo.

Rum who did you see for an endo, I think I may have TE, but also want to make sure my hormones, and adrenals are working properly?
I have had hair loss since I began taking a steroid in August due to severe allergies, the it has slowed down, and I am seeing new hair regrow at the top/front of head, but those too seem to fall out on occasion.
I am very confused, and have been to 2 derms so far, one who said it was stress, and the other said it was Alopecia Areata (without doing any type of blood work).

Any advise or input would be very helpful!

Dr Wickless isn't in Chicago and I haven't heard whether or not her replacement is as good. Has anyone else gone to Dr Wickless replacement with good results? I'm not hearing as good comments for Dr Dy who was on ABC news with Dr Wickless.
