Hello. My name is Kathy. I've been fighting thinning hair for the last 2 years. My hair really thinned out when I got very sick with diverticulitis and a ruptured appendix ( the doc's didn't know my appendix was ruptured for a whole year ). Now, I was on synthroid for the last 9 months and my hair has gotten worse. I stopped the synthroid and have an appointment with an endo in about a month ( soonest appointment I could get ). It plain sucks having such crummy hair. I alternate between thinking about shaving my head to buying a good wig. I am so happy that I found this site. I thought I was the only one suffering with this. It's really sad that so many women are suffering because of the meds they need for survival. I've upped my biotin and this ayurvedic supplement Bhringraj. Also doing the rogaine thing. I'm lucky in that I work out of my house, so no one sees how thin my hair has gotten. So depressing, takes up a bunch of your time and all you do is keep looking for the answer. Anyway, thanks for reading this.

Hi Kathy,

I'm also new to this website. I started my hair loss last Aug. when I was put on generic Synthoid for thyroid nodules. I was on it for 6 mos. and then quit taking the med. My hair is still falling out like crazy and it kills me because last year at this time I had a full head of hair that I received compliments on. Now I have thinning all over my head and no-one seems to know what is causing it or how to stop it. I am on iron supplements and take vitamins but unfortunately had to go on anti-anxiety medication because of this problem. I thought I was suffering alone until I came upon this website and realized how many other women are suffering. Just remember, you are not alone in this. Take care and keep the faith.

Thanks Meggie. It's funny that I really don't bond with ladies ( I write software for a living, plus I was an engineer ), so most of the time I am dealing with men. Odd that I get support from ladies for a problem that I always thought was a man's problem. I plain stopped that synthroid and am now taking Naturthroid. It's amazing that this little organ at the bottom of your throat controls so much of your well-being. Too bad that is so hard to find the right doctor for helping with this.
