Hello
First post here. I have had amenorrhea all my life and as a result I am now facing the need to move onto the wigs. My hair loss was not detected until 2 years ago and no doctor had identified that my hormonal imbalances would lead to hair loss. As such I only discovered significant hair thinning 2 years ago and was told that I would be losing my hair.

For the last year I have tried to save what hair I have. But now it is to the point where visible patches are showing and I would need to look into wigs. This brings a lot of emotions out in me. I fluctuate between courage and being scared, sadness and the urge to embrace the journey onto wigs. I'm hoping to get some support as I can't find any peer support groups in my city.

Can anyone direct me to information on wigs? I've been reading some articles and am very confused between the different types. I'm concerned with the wig being out of place when I wear it, or when the wind picks up the wire underneath will show. Does anyone still wear the regular wigs or are bonded wigs now the thing? Any direction and hearing from you guys would be so appreciated.

Sandra

Hi Harmoni -

This is a good link to check out:
http://www.womenshairlossproject.com/wigs/hair-pieces-demystified-cara/

Also the woman who wrote it (Cara) is on the network:

She is really such a kind and wonderful person and an fantastic resource, so perhaps send her a note also.

There are many gals in the network who have opted to wear wigs/ hair pieces. They are usually attached via something, a clip or adhesive. I know that when a hair piece is done well and worn well that they can be completely undetectable.

Here is a video that showcases all the beautiful ladies that have taken the plunge in one way or another:

I know it can all be so confusing, but you are in a wonderful support network of fantastic women, so I hope you find comfort and answers here.
