Hi everyone!
I'm new to this "chemicals like sodium lauryl sufate et. al. are bad" thing. Can anyone give me suggestions on a good, relatively easy to find hypoallergenic shampoo? I'm not sure what's causing my hair loss, whether it's genetic, low iron, BC-related, chronic stress (due to having other health problems), or autoimmune, but I do know so far that I've had a lot of scalp irritation lately. I'm hoping I can fix it. I started using a topical cortisol that my dermatologist prescribed about 2 weeks ago but I haven't noticed a difference yet (he said it may not even work and we may have to try injections anyway) and my scalp is red and irritated still. Also, while my hair loss is diffuse, it is also a little more concentrated along my ear and hair line :(. One side gets especially red when I touch it (after trying to find growing hairs in an obsessive/hoping for growth kind of way). Also this side has been having more hair loss and has "miniature hairs" :(. I find this very scaring and I'm hoping that it's just because I had really low ferritin before. My dermatologist also said that low iron stores can cause hair miniaturization.
I was also wondering if you all had suggestions with controlling inflammation. I can't take NSAIDs because I had/have an ulcer. I'm trying icing a particularly irritated spot right now (it was/is burning). I also took a Loratidine to see if the antihistimine will help too.
Thanks so much in advance!!!
