I had the Mirena removed a little over a month ago after realizing my hair was falling out like crazy. I am sure it was causing the hair loss. I saw a dermatologist this week and am waiting on test results. She said it was clear I had lost a lot of hair and was continuing to lose it. Of course, she said she had never heard of Mirena causing hair loss...

I am desperate to know if anyone else that lost hair after Mirena has had regrowth. How long until it stops falling out? My hair was thin to begin with and now my hairline has moved back considerably and it is so sparse on top.

My husband is bald and doesn't seem to realize how upsetting this is for me...

I had the Mirena implanted 6 mionths ago, and am experiencing hair loss again. However I am not sure if this is due to the Mirena or the fact I am no longer on a contraceptive pill.

Though it has rarely been reported, people have had problems of hair loss while using the Mirena. Talk to your doctor about this. You may want to choose and IUD that does not have hormones in it.

I did talk to both my OBGYN and the dermatologist. I told them about the research I did my own and about other women who had posted in forums about hair loss after Mirena. They can be so arrogant... both said you can't rely on what other women say -- it isn't "real" research.

I have had the same issue as you mentioned. Of course my husband just doesn't get it. My doc told me nothing is wrong. I have been thinking about trying Rogain. Has anything changed for you?

Unfortunately no, nothing has changed. My hair is so thin in the front and I can see my scalp everywhere. All the dermatologist will tell me is this could be "the new me." I don't know what to do but am also seriously considering Rogaine.

I'm sorry, I wish I could be the voice of comfort...but my hair fell out before, during, and after Mirena. Mirena was just a demon spawn device anyway, glad I got it out.

I still have my Mirena. I started losing my hair before I got it but have not noticed any increase in the loss since having it. I have had it for over a year now. I am still losing my hair, but not anymore than I was before. However, I have read a lot of things online stating that it can cause hair loss. I am a bit concerned because of this and thinking about having it removed.
