Default New to posting and here's my story

Hello, I am a 29 yr old. I have been married for 9 years and have a 5 year old daughter. I started noticing my hair to get thinner after I got married and after having a miscarriage that really depressed me for awhile. When I got pregnant with my daughter my hair really grew long and thick. After two months I notice hair loss with I know is normal after having a baby. But about 2 years ago my doctor suggest that I get on birth control since I was not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon. I have never been on any type of hormonal birth control, so I said sure I will give it a try. So I chose Nuvaring. I had been offered previous years pills, but I know I would forget to take them. So anyway, everything seemed good with the Nuvaring, but after some time I noticed mood swings and suicidal thoughts. So I decided to not refill my RX. Well after 2 months my hair starting falling out so much that you could see through my scalp and I freaked out, so I have been taking prenatal vitamins, biotin, zinc, and all kinds of supplements to see if it would help. It got better somewhat, but now its just so bad (to me) that I get depressed start crying. My husband does not see anything wrong but I do. I am always inspecting my hair and if I see thru my scalp I start to cry. Like I said I was taking a whole bunch of supplements, but I have been forgetting to take them lately. I bought a special shampoo and conditioner for thinning hair, but it does not work. I literally put: thickening cream, thickening spray, toppix, and I have to style it a certain way to try and "hide" the imperfections. It is very draining and I do not know what to do. I hate to go to the doctor for them to just tell me that oh well there is nothing u can do about it. Or them to send me to specialist which I dont want to spend for each one. Another of my dilemas now is that I want to expand my family because I would love to have another baby and my daughter has been asking for a sibling. But I am scared to get pregnant and my hair to all fall out or after the baby I really go bald. So I want to see if anyone dealing with hairloss has had a baby and it not affect too much. Please help I need advice.

Hi eflores,

I don't really have any advice for what to use while pregnant/trying to get pregnant to help treat hair loss.. But there is always the option of using a topper, which would have no bad effects on baby but would make you feel a lot better about how you look! Have you considered anything like that? I know it's all really scary, especially when you're new... but sometimes you have to decide that it's not going to control every decision in your life (should I get pregnant?).

I'm not really sure where you're at with all of this, but just thought I'd throw the idea out there! There are lots of women on this website who decided wear a topper and will tell you how much happier/confident they are since they started wearing one! I will be wearing one soon myself.. I just can't take the morning routine of styling my hair, trying to get it just right, putting on the hair fibers, hair spraying it until I feel sick from breathing in the hairspray. It's too stressful and it ruins my day 90% of the time.

Hi Jena,

Thanks for your suggestions! Yeah I totally understand what you going thru, my case may not be as bad that I need a topper, but I usually need to style it differently or use products to hide my scalp. I am hoping that with a change in my diet and if a lose some weight I can have healthier hair.

» Forum Vs. Network ?
What Is The Difference Between The Network and The Forum? The "Network" is a social network much like facebook and myspace, only it's just for women with hair loss. A forum is more of a bulletin board to post a question or story for others to read and to receive responses. It's easy and direct. I am hoping that the forum will be easy and inviting for those women who are uninterested or find it difficult to do the social network thing.
