Question life with hair loss

ehhh i am another one with the hair loss.... all my friends say you must take the bith control pill to stop the hair loss, but i am scared to take it...

My story is long.... i will tray to make it very shot:
age 25 - i had some acne, doctor prescribed me diane 35

I took it for 8 month- it made my skin look great, but i ve got some haevy legs problem ,and started to have cellulite so i ve stopped it... and then.....

In 3 month the real hell started.... my beautiful long hair was going away.... faling out all.... i was shocked

I went to see many doctors... i was prescribed to take some weired hormonal stuff, that was making me sick... could not get from the bed... and i ve got a depression

Hair loss was getting worse, doctors said it is just stress, pollution in the city...

So i took another step moved out to live in the country side, the montines resh air, i was doing a lot of sports.... hair loss never stoped

i was there almost 3 years focusted on my work, doing sports, healthy food.... hair loss never stopped...

I ve got back to the city.... studying ...working... hair loss was there... always less and less hair left, i had to cut it quite short... i always had very long hair before...

Changing life..... Back to the university to study for masters degree and i ve decided to go back on the pill... my hair in 3 month were beautiful again!!! i mean it didnt go back but the ones were left started to look healthy and hair loss slowed down wow so happy I was....but other side effects because of the pill happened

After 6 month of my expierement i went off the pill again.... and the hair loss is back... but this time i had so little hair left and it doesnt stop again

Now i am 33 i did all the possible cures checking my hormones vitamines healthy life stile... but the hair loss is there...i dodnt want to go back on the pill... it doesnt feel right to take it every day and makes me feel very unhealhy, many side effects, but the hair stopps falling out...

I am thinking again should take i again? i have no choice?
it doesnt make sense i am for the healthy life style for the last 6 years i didnt take any kind of medical drugs and i want to avoid to take the pill...
Another thing i never had really a sexual life. do you think it can do something about the hormonal system? i believe no but sometimes i jst wonder....

ahhh i miss my hair so much... how can i get it back...one doctor said the diane 35 that i took 8 years ago messed up my system and there is NO WAY BACK...... gosh this sounds like a nightmare...

but i am positive i think no of my hair i am very focused on my job that i like .. just sometimes when i stop myself and look in the mirrir it scares me and then i wonder if there is anything i can do about it?

thank you for reading my story... just another story...

Hi Aline..

when you got off the diane 35 the first time, what happened? How did you lose your hair? Did it just fall off slowly or did you have a months or two of severe hair loss and then it just kind of slowly tapered off? I know that when you take Diane 35.. your hair goes into telogen effluvium and then over a few months the shedding should stop. What kind of horomones did you go on after that??

When i took the diane 35, i ve noticed that my hair structure have changed, it felt like i had more hair, but it got very dry. When i ve stoped diane 35, after 3 month one mornng nightmare started... it started to shed badly, i felt i was going to loose all my hair, then in another 6 month it slowed down, but i didnt have my hair left... now it was 8 years ago that i took diane, but the hair loss never stopped, it is getting thnner and thinner, and looks very poor, i miss my hair....

Hi Aline,

From what I have heard, Diane 35 causes you to lose your hair for up to a year.. but then it should stop. Did you get your androgens and testostorone checked? Did you get your iron level and thyroid checked?? There could be something else going on. Same thing happened to me.. I took Diane 35 for 6 months and 3 months after stopping my hair started to fall out. It's been a nightmare for me so far but I hope it will end soon. You said you went on horomones after that. What did you go on? Maybe that caused it to be worse? so do you have bald spots if you lost so much hair and for so long?? Did you ever speak to other girls who took Diane 35 and it happened to them? What did they say??

No, the hair loss after i took Diane 35 never stoped (only taking the pill again stops it but i am not going to take the pill anymore - it is cusing too many other problems).
I ve checked my hormonal lever many times after i ve stopped diane 8 years ago. They have never found it abnormal. So my hormonal levels are ok my health is fine, but my hair loss is terrible, i have very very thin hair left now... and still falling out and the scalp is very itchy.. nothing to do about it... did youtake diane 35 as well?

Hey Alina,

Is your hair falling out every time you wash your hair still and every time you comb it? How much hair do you lose each day??

Try to test your hormones again. Test for androgen and testostorone. Seems like you still have an imbalance and the male hormones are high. You say you have an itchy scalp as well. I had it for 4 months!! I took Diane 35 for 6 months and when I stopped , half my hair fell out 4 months later. It has been shedding for 4 months now.. but I can tell it is getting better. For 4 months my scalp was itchy and painful.. which drove me crazy. I did some research on that and it means that the scalp is producing sebum which turns to DHT which makes your hair fall out. Because Diane 35 is an anti androgen drug.. it suppressed all your male hormones but once you came off it, even if your hormones were normal or even if you had low testostorne, your body is no longer used to the male hormones thanks to Diane 35 and that is why it causes itchyness on the scalp and causing your hair to fall out. But after 4 months to 8 months it should stop. I have had no itching at all now for almost 5 days so I am hoping that this nightmare will be over soon. I hope my hair will grow back. I am so depressed about it. go see your doctor, you could have PCOs or you need to maybe control the male hormones. That is what causing the hair loss. Click on the link below .. there are hundreds of posts from ladies who took Diane 35(it is called Dianette in the UK) and they posted about it. A lot of girls lost their hair also. Click here,,

» Forum Vs. Network ?
What Is The Difference Between The Network and The Forum? The "Network" is a social network much like facebook and myspace, only it's just for women with hair loss. A forum is more of a bulletin board to post a question or story for others to read and to receive responses. It's easy and direct. I am hoping that the forum will be easy and inviting for those women who are uninterested or find it difficult to do the social network thing.
