Smile New here :)

Hi Everyone-

I'm new here. I signed up back in January I believe, but wasn't in the right place of mind to even admit I needed to support. Boy was I wrong. My name is Jenn, I'm 32 and I live in Texas.

For the last couple of months, I have researched and researched, and just recently decided to start wearing a topper. I have had slow hair loss since my late teens. I am 32 now, and it has only gotten worse over the years. For the longest time, I was able to hide it, by styling my hair in certain ways. Unfortunately, hiding it is no longer an option. I have lost most of the hair at the front of my hairline (except for my actual hairline) and on top of my head. I was diagnosed with having a hypo-thyroid when I was 15, and no doctor has ever been able to stabilize my numbers. So every three months I am constantly having my med's (lyvoxel) increased, then decreased a couple months later. I was also diagnosed with PECOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) when I was 26.
I look forward to getting to know everyone. I am so sad that we all have to have this problem, but I am very happy to be in such nice company.

I am going to try and attach a picture of how I used to look, and one with my new topper. I got a stylist to even it all out for me, but I am going back tomorrow to have some long layers cut into it and frame my face. So far, I like it better than my own hair, but it is definitely something I am going to have to get used to. Thank you for reading about me!!

Thanks for sharing your story and pictures. The topper looks nice! I do not know much about them, but I'd like to find out more as I am going to have to find a solution myself soon. Toppik and hats are not going to be able to hold me over forever.

» Forum Vs. Network ?
What Is The Difference Between The Network and The Forum? The "Network" is a social network much like facebook and myspace, only it's just for women with hair loss. A forum is more of a bulletin board to post a question or story for others to read and to receive responses. It's easy and direct. I am hoping that the forum will be easy and inviting for those women who are uninterested or find it difficult to do the social network thing.
