Hi everyone. I'm going through hell and obsessed with my hair loss with no help. To make a long story short. I had 2 babies 2012 and 2014.. I was vomiting thru both pregnancies and lost NO hair while being pregnant. After The second one was worse then the first. My second baby is 16 months and it's worse now then ever. I've been to 3 dermatologists 1 said it was seborrheic dermatitis which my scalp is still dry burning and itching. the other 2 said my hair falling should have subsided by now and "just use rogaine if u want ur hair thicker". When I told him I've heard people lose more hair on it he asks "who said that" well it's common sense I've heard and read from plenty about effects rogaine can have... My blood work came back last year my vitamin D is very low now on top of that my iron is very low now too... People have told me to use Nioxin (even for no hairloss) they say it helps but after reading u can get a hair shedding the first 2 weeks so of course I'm scared to try.... My primary dr told me don't use that stuff just use Nizoral and take iron pills... I just started Nizoral and have been going to an acupuncturist who started me on Shou Wu (Fo TI) an herb... I've also used semi permanent hair dyes the last years to cover up some grays.. Now I'm
Scared to touch it.. After the babies my hair has been so sensitive and burning especially when using dyes.. if I wanted to think about dying I was gonna use 100% natural henna.. I've basically tried every oil , vitamin, food, I'm getting so frustrated.. the stress of my hair constantly coming out even when I don't wash it , taking pics of the top of my head seeing my part look widening, seeing thinness throughout my head is controlling my life... It's all I think and talk about.. I don't want to look in the mirror, I don't want to go out in the day light and I don't wear my hair down bc all the hairs coming out stresses me out... I'm sick of doctors and their lies and quickness to put you on any Medicines... It's not a coincidence that my hair feels like a Brillo pad and has been breaking off at the ends in balls, dry, white and burning but yet I'm told to just take rogaine!?? I need help and people to talk to who understand what I'm going through...I have babies and I can't let this ruin my life...I'm going this Saturday for a Biopsy.. Why couldn't they have done that when I was in the office complaining then... Idk what else to do.. I complain to some and sound like a broken record but my hair is coming out in chunks everyday multiple times a day

    • I completely understand your pain. I"ve had hair loss for over 20 years and it is devastating at times. It's very scary,Is your hair breaking off at the ends or from the scalp? I'm in NYC too and have been to doctors but none that I think really helped. I can tell you my advice from my experience, although everyone is different for sure. I have low iron too but blood tests say it is still in the normal range, I've taken iron supplements but they don't work for me, I think there is an absorption issue. However, I look at the pattern of my over 20 years of loss I really think it's hormonal, my hair was worst after times of stress, when I turned 40 and after a miscarriage, it was best for the years when I had two children and a few years in my 20s. It got ridiculously bad recently, I barely had any left and was wearing hair pieces, but now I am pregnant again and it's growing back, thin but it's definitely there and very little shedding at all. When I was on the pill it was fine too. After I give birth I will go on the pill again. I don't think iron is the cause but probably contributes. My thyroid is fine but borderline, so again I think that might contribute but not the cause. I've taken all sorts of pills, supplements, oils, herbs, etc, I really don't believe a single one helped at all and cost a lot of money. I don't think acupuncture or herbs do anything as there is no peer reviewed science based research supporting it. Rogaine does work for me, it leaves my hair greasy but there is definitely regrowth where I use it (at the crown.) I've been to lots of doctors and they all say the same thing, take iron, use rogaine and try our expensive products. I think when it comes down to it it's hormonal, for me at least. Maybe you want to look into that, even talk to a doctor about hormone tests. I wear extensions, hair powder and usually have my medium long thin fly away stringy hair up in a messy bun to hide how lousy it is. Most of the time I don't care anymore and focus on wearing fantastic makeup and great shoes : ) My hair sucks and I'm sure people think I'm ill much of the time or had chemo but I put things in perspective and try not to let it bother me. Good luck!

Hi alix ... So scared bc Idk what's going on... I went for biopsy today and in so sore and in pain... My ends break off in clumps... I have to wash my hair tmrw and I already have anxiety over it.... When I was pregnant I didn't lose anything with both of my kids.. It was after that it started coming out so bad.. And now my baby is 16 months and it's been worse then ever for months... I won't leave my hair down bc all the anxiety i have when i see hairs constantly falling down my arms freaks me out...the front is so thin, I can't even dye it anymore... I was gonna try henna but I'm even scared to do that.. I have some gray that bothers me... All my bloodwork is ok except for the iron and vitamin D...I'm having a hard time even putting Nizoral shampoo in the front.. Did u get hair shedding with rogaine? Inm scared to even attempt it..u can't use it pregnant now right?

Good luck with the biopsy - so I guess your hair is breaking both from the ends as well as the roots? And is this sudden? I"m really sorry to hear. My hair has been getting finer excessively as well as falling out, I can't wear it down because there simply isn't enough. As I"m pregnant I can't dye it or use rogaine, but the pregnancy hormones have improved the regrowth so I'm happy at the moment. For me, the rogaine didn't necessarily cause any more loss that what was already happening and it definitely helps regrowth. I used henna once and as I washed it out clumps and clumps of hair came out as well so I will never go near it again, which is weird because it's meant to be all natural, but for whatever reason it made a lot of hair come out. When I color my grays I use clairol natural instincts and have never had a problem with it. Try hair powder it really helps and is so easy. And for me I love hair extensions, if I want to dress up I definitely have clip ins in or have a hairdresser do the taped in wefts. No one can tell I have less hair than a baby when I use these plus hair powder. Good luck and remember you are not alone, so many women have hair loss too : )

Thank you.. I've been in this messed up zone and place right now.. It constantly comes out in balls.. The front of my hair has gotten progressively thinner and I'm running out of ways to cover it... I was shaking earlier in the mirror.. This is very unhealthy... I'm driving everyone close to me crazy.. Which henna did you use bc some of them claim to be "henna" but really aren't.. I used to always use Clairol natural instincts but then it started burning my scalp and I was losing more hair after it which I think also has an effect on the follicles bc they all contain PCP... Idk why this is happeneing to me so fast, no one in my family had this including my 95 year old grandmother who had a head full of hair and my other one who was 89 and you couldn't run a comb thru it it was so thick... My moms hair is thick too... I should have lost what I lost after pregnancy and that's it!! My gyno thought I was crazy for not wanting to have a 3 rd kid bc of my hair...which hair powder and clip ins do u use bc I bought that daisy Fuentes ones and I felt my hair was so thin you can see the clips underneath and how do I hide front?

I used a straight up herbal henna and it was not good for me, but everyone is different. Did your dermatologist look at your scalp? If you get burning and sensitivity on your scalp I assume the doctor should be able to recognize something, for me it's all on the inside, my scalp is fine, I lose hair due to internal hormonal and other reasons a tough nut to crack. There are different hair powders you can buy on amazon but I use any old dark brown eye shadow to fill in the hair line and that works just fine.

The herbal henna have PCP.. Look up ancient sunrise it's Supposed to be good for ur hair and thickening.. I used it on my gray areas... I got IV iron today... The Nizoral has helped with itching and burning so far... I've just been very scared at the amounts I've been losing and the way it's getting so thin so fast... He saw some scaling on my back and inflammation and flaking on my eyebrows.. Idk if that's what would cause all this hairloss... What reasons did they say ur losing ur hair if ur blood work is pretty much ok? I lost NO hair pregnant.. After my first baby I lost hair and started getting these problems and then the 2nd was the topper the worst hair loss and 16 months later it got worse and I pray to god it stops and grows back in thicker.. I'm trying to believe even tho I feel like it won't

My mother has psoriasis and it was on her scalp once and made hair fall out for a bit, maybe you should look into that?

So this real lack of bedside manners dr told the lab to call me and tell me I have androgenetic alopecia what I dreaded to hear... Tells her to tell me to take rogaine and that's it when I come back to get stitches out then I can talk to him.. Bastard!! I'm going to another specialist in the city... I'm
So scared I don't know what to do now! I've read horrible stories about rogaine.. I can't afford to shed hair.. I don't know what to do now... Can I just stick with nioxin? I'm
So scared right now I've been crying all day

Rogaine works for me, don't be scared to try it. I wish I could use it now but I can't with the pregnancy. Nioxin never did a thing. Your doctor doesn't sound great but I've also never found a doctor who really understands hair loss either.

How do you apply it to just center? U didn't go thru more of a shed? I have baby hairs along my hair line and I'm scared to put it there bc I'm scared it'll fall off and not grow in back. I'm trying a woman in the city April 27th. Hopefully she'll care more.. If it helps with growth, what's stops hair from falling out so much? In middle of night I got up to use the bathroom and a ball of hair was hanging down my arm.. I was freaking out. I need to get myself together and I can't

I just put it around the scalp before bed, mostly around the hairline. I didn't lose hair from it at all and it definitely made new hairs grow.

U didn't put on top of head? I have small baby hairs and I'm
Scared to apply there thinking it'll come out.. People always write about this shedding from it..

I applied it to scalp through the hair, my hair is so thin I can easily spray it through the hair and on the scalp trying to avoid it getting all over the hair because it looks greasy. Again, for me I did't lose any hair.
