These are the ones I read or know about:

Genetics (#1 for AGA..but many types of hairloss could be so complex but just diagnosed as 'genetic' because doctors don't know much about HL)
    Thyroid imbalance (hypo or hyper)
Nutritional deficiencies (Iron, copper, zinc, b vitamins...)
    PCOS in women
hormonal imbalance (between Estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, aldasterone..)
Increased androgens (could be because you have PCOS) also causes acne
Menopause (because your estrogen starts decreasing and estrogen is good for hair)
    Anemia
    Low ferritn
    Lupus
    insulin resistance
    Celiac disease
Stress (temporary hair loss can cause telogen effluvium)
Crash dieting (that can cause nutritional deficiency)
Styling I read does not cause hairloss but rather weak hair that breaks

    Hope that helps

Hair loss could be of stress, worries, not oiling hairs properly, lack of nutritious and healthy diet along with less intake of water. Frequent change of hair shampoos could also be the cause. Sometimes health issues like mensuration's, BP, Anemia, etc could also be the cause of hair loss. The applying of chemical like hair colors or frequent changing of hair style could also be the cause. Causes for hair loss can be different for both men and women. The best way to understand the reason behind hair loss is by taking an example of the garden, growth of grass depends what is happening “underground.” Same like that your hair growth also depends upon your scalp. Reasons for hair fall are:
    A physical or emotional shock.
    Medical conditions.
    Hormonal factors.
Medications. (Like cancer, Depression, High blood pressure)
    Hair-pulling disorder.

It is mostly genetic. Your hair follicles eventually stop getting the message to grow new hair. It can also be caused by poor nutrition or drugs/medications. Keeping a healthy diet and exercising can reduce the chance of premature balding in most people.

There are a lot of causes of hair loss. Dry and itchy scalp, lack of proteins and minerals in the body, stress, depression, medication are some of the common reasons of it. Hair fall problems can also be genetic but you can get rid of it with the help of hair transplant treatments. Read more about the factors which does and does not cause hair loss in women.

Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension
    Too much work
    Illness
    Poor diet
    Over-exposure to the sun
    Perming
    Amateur bleaching
Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.
